You will discover the Norwegian capitals best sights both on foot and by bus. The itinerary includes visits to the Norwegian open air museum as well as the amazingly creative Vigeland Sculpture Park walk and time spent discovering the centuries of Nordic warriors heritage in the Viking Ship Museum.
Our introduction to Oslo starts with an enjoyable guided drive around the city center highlights on a sightseeing tour by bus. Departing from the harbor along the scenic seaside, you will get an overview of this old land of the Vikings complete with time for photo stops. We will see such historic sites as the Parliament, National Theatre, Royal Residence, City Hall and the new modern Opera House along the way. The celebrated Karl Johans Gate is also found a stone throw away on the main pedestrian street of the city, famously named after Norwegian king Karl III Johan. We will also reserve some free time or a coffee break with a spot of shopping before continuing with our afternoon activities.
Thereafter we will arrive at the impressive Vigeland Sculpture Park for a walk the imaginative world of Gustav Vigeland and more than 200 of his creations of human figures in bronze, iron and stone. Leaving the sculpture park and city center behind, we will now head towards one of Norway's oldest cultural landscapes with a rich history. The peninsula of Bygdøy also boasts beautiful parks and forests and some of Oslo's most delightful natural seaside.
Our first stop is at the Norwegian open air museum, where a priceless collection of artifacts are presented in a charming setting of more than 150 real-life buildings relocated to tell the story of Norwegian inhabitants over the last 500 years. Thereafter, our visit will introduce us to the fascinating stories and legends of the fearless Vikings and their life. Fully intact mythical Viking ships are on display dating back an incredible one-thousand years.
Once we have taken in the sights and charming views of Bygdøy peninsula, we will return towards the city center on a scenic drive through this Nordic capital before heading back to the harbor.
